Bristol Blue Glass

Since Lisa was somewhat unspecific about what she wanted to see while she was here, David and I took the opportunity to show her some of the things that either both of us had been wanting to see or that David had been wanting to show me. The Bristol Blue Glass location had been one of the things that David had wanted to show me.

As most of you know, David and I shared a unity cup at our October 2007 wedding in leiu of the standard unity candle. The primary reason for this was David's brilliant gift of Bristol Blue Glass goblets and decanter for a wedding gift. The goblets were inscribed with each of our names and the decanter held the inscription for the wedding date. They were beautifully perfect! It is my understanding that Tami had a hand in making their selection when David and his family had visited the Bristol Blue Glass location during their visit and so I thank her for her good taste.

While we were there, we watched amazed as the craftsmen made some of their orders for the day. While watching it struck me that the art of glass blowing has remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. Below is some video we took of the experience.

While the skill was amazing to watch, there was also several displays for us to browse while we were there. Bristol Blue Glass was contracted with for a special goblet for the Harry Potter movies . .

There was some beautiful pieces that were also on display and I couldn't help but photograph them. .

There are of course additional photos, such as a descrption of what minerals and such get you which colors of glass, etc. For all the photos taken while we were at this learning experience, please click on the slideshow below:
